On Wednesday, October 9, at 8:00 p.m., and until 10/21, the fascinating, multinational world of a rare woman is presented at Vryssaki.

“Lela Arvaniti, lifelong companion and aunt Lela of my dear friend Clairi Tsalouhides-Hatziminas and aunt Lela of all of us who associate with her and love her, gives us this world with rare generosity, through a book and an accompanying exhibition. In addition to Lela’s fascinating summaries, the book also contains a moving text of her own, as well as texts by Claire and myself.

Lela and Clairi took the treasures out of the chests, the beloved Ilias Georgouleas photographed them exemplary at Clairi’s house, while, with exceptional talent and sensitivity, the also dear friend and collaborator Andreas Georgiadis, undertook to design this complex project that I edited as tenderly as I could.

In an attempt to unravel the fascinating multi-complex thread of Lela Arvanitis’ creation, but also to make the structure and use of this book easier for the reader, we have chosen to compose and present distinct modules of works.

Balls and dolls, hats and crowns, belts and brooches, necklaces and bracelets, charms and holiday wishes, wall hangings and table decorations, each precious and one of a kind, reveal a tireless , sensitive, imaginative and exuberant talented creator who constantly dreams, invents, dares and completes new complex projects. However, the part that acts as an introduction to the magical world of Lela Arvanitis could not be missing. Before India, there was Greece. Before the East, the European West. Before adulthood, childhood. The book therefore begins with indicative items from her collections.”
